Summary

Hacker news has been plagued by huge lists of 'dead links' in recent months. Is there a new policy or is it just that people don't know how to post? Someone help me understand what's going on. Is this always been the case or are they also looking for a way to self-destruct?

I've understood it to mainly stand for spam and/or "unvouched" submissions

I've seen either spam or quite literally the links just ended up dead

Has HN felt very impersonal and clique-y to anyone else?
