Summary

The Eiffel Tower is undergoing the biggest works campaign in 40 years. Three projects of an exceptional scale carried out at the same time. The Tower will be a central feature of the images of Paris during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024.

For the first time in the history of the world, the city of Paris has been given a new coat of paint. The new paint is being applied by hand.

In 1889, Gustave Eiffel explained that the Eiffal Tower was a masterpiece of metal construction but also of metal painting. GustaveEiffel initiated an incredible methodology: repainting the Eiffsel Tower every seven years.

The first repainting campaign took place in 1892, and Gustave Eiffel changed. The 20th painting campaign is based on a very scientific approach.

After the renovation of the historic elevator in the West Pillar — completed in 2014 — it is now the turn of the North Pillar elevator to benefit from full renovation. New components, which are unique in the world, have been specially prototyped for the Eiffel Tower.

After a previous major modernization project in 1998, the Duolifts are once again in need of an overall revamp. The work aims to renovate all the electric and safety systems, modernize the machinery, and improve the performance of the elevators.

The tower is such a statement to man's hubris. "Indefinitely repaint this really fragile thing".
