I've had this happen a few times. After the second, I started asking where this money was when I asked for a raise and they've all just stared at me.

That sounds extremely disheartening! Have you ever found a good way to weed this kind of thing out while interviewing?

Not really. I've started trying to listen for corporate BS when we talk and get good vibes from people.

Oof and nobody was embarrassed?

Blank stares. I think they knew.
