It's Immigrant Heritage Month!

submitted

byspeakbitstogeneral

America is comprised of more than 325 million people with nearly all of us having immigrated from somewhere other than the United States. About 14% of those are naturalized citizens, which translates to nearly 45 million immigrants in the United States. I hail from Honduras and moved to the US for college and work before calling it my permanent home.

It would be fun to share stories about your immigrant heritage if you have some!

My family is all Western European descent (Irish, German, and Spanish). I'm so far removed from it though that I only have stories of grandparents to know of the culture of any of these places.

I feel like this is a lot of the US and a big reason why it's important to know your heritage. Learn why your grandparents came here and you'll understand more of the world

My mom came to America in the 80s from Chihuahua, Mexico. She has a whole slew of her own hispanic food recipes. They are family recipes. They're always hits at parties.
