I have 16k in CC debt. I have a job that hasn’t given me hours in two weeks (so barely income). I am in nursing school (grad next yr.). I am getting 5K this month. 0 $ to my name.

BTW - I have no cash to my name. At all. The job is well-paying (it’s a temp gig). But they haven’t given me hours in weeks and it’s becoming unbearable. I am receiving 5K in a lump sum this month and I’m wondering - should I stash this money and say “f it” to the credit card debt? Originally it was to chip towards my debt. But at this point, if I pay off the CC’s, barely any credit limit will be freed, and I will basically have nothing to my name (until I pay off the remaining 11k in debt to free up CC limit.)

Should I use the 5K for basically surviving… until I’m able to find a more consistent job? And then use whatever income from that job as a means to pay off the 16k in debt?
