Am I just too young to remember, or has stick drift gotten much worse than it was a few generations ago?

Now I'm fairly young (gen Z) and I don't ever remember having stick drift on my controllers for any of the big 3 back in the 00s and 2010s.

Now it seems like all 3 of the big hardware makers suffer from rampent stick drift in all their controllers.

Am I simply too young to remember it being like this back when? Or has it genuinely gotten worse?
