12 things you need to know before going to Seville

Summary

Seville is the jewel in Andalucía’s cultural crown. Barrio Santa Cruz is a great place to start for first-time visitors.

Both the Catedral de Sevilla and Real Alcázar are accessible via a specific entry time ticket only. If you’re on a budget, try to grab the free tickets to the cathedral each week.

If you visit in the hotter summer months, carry water and drink often to stay hydrated in the dry heat. The old city was designed and laid out to keep most streets in the shade throughout the day.

Most kitchens have fixed opening hours, so you're unlikely to find anywhere serving an evening meal before 8pm. By 9:30pm the place will be packed out, as the locals come out to eat a light dinner of tapas.

Seville is a liberal city where the LGBTIQ+ community is embraced. The city hosts the region’s biggest Pride parade – Orgullo de Andalucía in late June.

Always carry at least a liter of water with you and drink little but often throughout the day. Seville is considered to be one of the safest cities in Spain.

The Andalucía region is absolutely amazing! I always have a hard time picking between Seville, Malaga, and Granada

I had the absolute best time in Granada a few years ago! Did some backpacking and hostels, super convenient and fun.

I don't know how people could do a trip like this to a place like this in under 3 days...

It's doable, it just might seem like a whirlwind though

Those whirlwinds are horrible for me. Almost feels like it was a job instead of a vacation.

Is there like a coordinated tourism campaign or something? I'm seeing Seville pop up everywhere.
